Promoting Gender Respect Training Registration is now closed. Please contact Dianne at dstewart@tcadsv.org for available openings. The Coalition will host a Promoting Gender Respect Curriculum Facilitators' Training on Thursday and Friday, July 29-30, 2010. (Please note: this training was originally scheduled for May, but was postponed due to the floods. If you already registered for the original date, please disregard this announcement). The purpose of this training is to orient attendees to the Promoting Gender Respect curriculum, which develops the leadership skills of middle school boys to become active allies in promoting gender respect. The training will begin with an in-depth look at the theory informing the curriculum. After this foundation has been developed, the group will shift towards building knowledge, skills, and tools needed to implement this 8-week program with boys in their own community. The topics addressed will include: organizational assessment/readiness, community assessment, engaging adult allies, practical skills for building youth leadership, and project evaluation. Presenter Rus Funk is a nationally recognized expert on engaging men and boys, and developed the Promoting Gender Respect for the Coalition in 2008. The training will be held Thursday and Friday, July 29-30, 2010 at the Sexual Assault Center, 101 French Landing Drive, Nashville, TN 37228. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. on July 29. If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2010 and would like to take advantage of membership discounts for this training, please Click Here. The cost of the training is $100 for members and $150 for non-members and includes a continental breakfast and a copy of the Promoting Gender Respect Curriculum.
